"Comparing to the standard technique of shop fabricated, flanged, 20-40 foot joints of pipe being installed in the field, the material costs of the Lokring fittings are roughly equivalent to the cost of flanges, gaskets, bolts, and the cost of shop fabrication labor. But the field installation for Lokring connections required 40% less man-hours than the estimated time for flanged and bolted connections. In addition, since final fit-up can be done in the field, corrections are easily made and there is no re-work."
"The integrity of the Lokring connection is also much more reliable and less subject to failure or leakage during initial pressure test of the installed piping. We have been very pleased with our decision to use Lokring connections on this project and I would recommend them to anyone contemplating a similar installation (where crevice corrosion is not an issue)."
