CNC 2nd Shift Supervisor

This CNC 2nd Shift Supervisor position requires experience and strong skills leading a team to achieve production goals and maintain a safe and stable work environment on 2nd shift.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Leads the 2nd shift team to achieve safety and productivity goals
  • Supervises operator performance, productivity and job quality and addresses any issues as they occur
  • Responds to all normal daily production issues with a minimal need for direction
  • Responds to emergency situations involving personnel, equipment or facilities
  • Ensures equipment and resources are used safely and effectively
  • Operates CNC lathes and mills for precision machining as needed
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to optimize the production process
  • Help keep the shop clean, and tools and fixtures organized in the proper place

 

REQUIRED

  • High School diploma or equivalent – will consider a combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience in a leadership role
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to operate CNC machines that includes loading bar stock and unloading parts in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to make changes and adjustments to tooling offsets, fixtures, and perishable tool changes without guidance
  • Ability to maintain and supervise manufacturing quality parts to a quality plan
  • Must have an understanding of machine operation, machining, and set-up principles
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Working knowledge of gages, comparator, micrometers, calipers, 6” rule, ring and plug gages
  • Strong math skills including geometric and trigonometric principles
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

 

PREFERRED

  • Supervisory or management experience
  • Prior experience in the operation and/or set-up of Okuma, Mazak, Fanuc controls, Index CNC Multi-Spindle a plus
  • 3+ years of experience on CNC lathes
  • Experience in an ISO quality environment helpful
  • Ability to program in Gibbscam, Mazatrol, or G-Code
  • Prior experience with an ERP system helpful
  • Experience withs 5s/6s strategy
